Mr. Broadbent in Training For Attempt on Record

AEROPLANE ALMOST READY. LONDON, March 1. The Australian airman Mr H. F. Broadbent, has begun .raining preparatory to his attack on the solo flight record from England to Darwin, and his attempt to establish an official world solo record from London to Sydney. One of his favourite modes of exercise is riding work on racehorses at Hanworth, near the air park, where he is living while in England. He is a keen student of racing form and attends many meetings, although betting, like most of his habits, is marked by the greatest moderation. His only unrestrained indulgence is world flying. Mr Broadbent has been taking a number of short flights, mostly to Luton, where his new Percival Vega Gull aeroplane is almost ready for delivery.

Although the weather conditions may continue to be uncertain in March, he still has every reason to expect to make a start this month. Given sufficient moonlight and fair average weather, he entertains high hopes of bringing his flight to a successful finish.
