Hitler Outwitted

MUSSOLINI BELIEVED TO HAVE ADVISED IT LONDON, March 10. The British United Press correspondent at Rome says: “Official circles believe that Signor Mussolini advised the Austrian Chancellor, Dr. von Schuschnigg, to “jump tnc gun” by taking a plebiscite before the Nazi Anschluss (Union) Day on March 27. “Signor Mussolini,” the correspondent adds, ‘‘is confident that the plebiscite will overwhelmingly favour Dr. von Schuschnigg, who thereafter will be in a stronger position to check pro-German activities.”

Newspapers in Paris agree that Dr. von Schuschnigg has outwitted Herr Hitler and has also wisely cut out the votes of turbulent youngsters by fixing the age limit for voting in the plebiscite at 24 years.
