AUTUMN NOMINATIONS ARE DUE NEXT TUESDAY

Tho Manawatu Trotting Chib's autumn meeting will be held on the Awapuni racecourse on Saturday, April 2. There are eight races on the programme and the principal event is the Manawatu Trotting Cup, which carries a £3OO stake. Nominations for all events are due to close with tho secretary (Mr. A. H. Manson) at eight o’clock next Tuesday evening. AWAPUNI GOLD CUP GENEROUS DONATION BY MR. J. P. INNES Following tho Manawatu Racing Club’s decision to again give a gold cup I for the principal race at the autumn • meeting, Mr. J. P. Inncs, a steward of the club, generously offered to donate the trophy, and the cup, which is an outstanding example of tho goldsmiths ; art, will make it a trophy in keeping with the importance of the event for which it has been donated. Trophy For Future Race. The club has also been promised a trophy by Mr. B. J. Jacobs, and this will be raced for at a future meeting. Cup for May Steeplechase.

In connection with the Steeplechase, which will be run at the May meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club, a very old friend of the club has promised that the owner of the winner shall receive a very handsome silver cup.
