Skins and Hides

Competition was keen at the sale of wool oddments, sheepskins, hides and tallow held by Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Limited, on Thursday, March 10. Values for wool and skins wercslightly easier, hides showed an increase.

Wool: Values for all grades were on a par to id per lb. lower. Sheepskins: There was a drop of from id to 4d per lb. Hides; Cow, ox hides and calfskins were id to -Id per lb. up. Tallow: Tallow showed a slight depreciation.

The following is the range of values:—

Wool: Southdown, 9£d to lOJd; fine Xbred, 9d to 9.1 d; Xbred, 81d to 9d; fine hoggets, 9d to Old; hoggets, Bid to 9d; dead. 7d to 7id; locks and pieces, 4ld to Old.

Sheepskins: Fine hoggets, Bld to hoggets, Sd to Sid; f-full wools, 81d to 8Id; 1-1 wools, 7id to Sd; Xbred dmgd., ssd to 03d; lambs, 7£d to Sid; pelts, old to 7d; salted pelts, Is lOd to 2s 9d; salted shts.-i wools, 3s 6d to 3s 8d: salted 1-J wools, 3s 9d to 3s lid. Hides: Ox, medium 6 3-Sd to 6 5-Sd, light SSd to 5 7-8 d; cow, heavy 5 1-Sd to 5 3-Bd, medium 5 l-8d to Did, light 5 l-8d to old; yearlings, 61d to 7 5-8 d: calf, light first 9d to 9 1-Sd. light second Bid to 8 7-Bd, cut 7d to 7 l-Bd.
