Aunt Jane’s Letter
DEAR COGS AND COGLETS,
Hasn’t the weather been kind to us lately? I suppose most of you are having lessons out-of-doors and becoming a nice deep brown shade that will, alas, wear off in the winter! We City Cogs are having quite a treat this week—tho New Zealand Brass Bands Contest is being held here and the streets are full of music and men in exciting uniforms. I saw a small boy the other day, solemnly marching down the street with a paper hat on his head, banging away on an old tin tray—imitating the bandsmen! Some bad news Cogs—Our clever Cog, Rangatira, is; going to leave us. We shall miss him, but we all hope he will remember us sometimes and write to the Page. Mr. Puz asked me to remind you that you can always write in about "special request" skilltests and he will do his best for you. I think the skilltest is the most exciting part of the Page—don’t you Cogs? So put on thinking caps and see if you can’t catch Mr. Puz out an his own game! The Hub is having a lovely time at the beach Cogs, but the Den does look a bit empty without her! Much love to you all, AUNT JANE.
