Rongotea
From Our Own Correspondent. Welcome to Presbyterian Minister. Members and leaders of the Presbyterian Outfields Mission filled the Rongotea Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evening, when the Rev. J. Hubbard. M.A., of Palmerston' North, attended in order to induct the new missioner, Mr J. W. Martin. Mr Hubbard delivered an inspiring address, which \V*os followed by an impressive induction ceremony. At tne conclusion, an adjournment was made to the Coronation Hall, where about 100 people spent a very pleasant social hour with games and musical items, supper being served by the ladies. On behalf of the office bearers and congregation, Mr W. H. Uimblett extended a welcome to Mr and Mrs Martin and family. Mr Rickaby also warmly welcomed the new minister on behalf of the Bible class members. Representing the Methodist Church. Mr L H. Yarrall apologised for the absence o' Rev. R. E. Fordyce, and offered words of greeting and welcome, while Mr N. F. Rowe extended a hearty welcome on behalf of the Brethren. Mr Martin thanked Mr Hubbard and all present for their warm welcome. Mr R. Johnston, who is leaving the district to continue his studies- for the ministry, was then called upon to accept a travelling rug from the niemcers or the congregation and the Bible Class. Mr W. A Hurst eulogised his services as a lay preacher and church official. Mr Johnston suitably replied. General. Owing to the difficulty experienced in obtaining the services of judges on the original date set for their show, the Rongotea and District Horticultural Society has now fixed the date for the autumn show as March 16. The Rongotea school committee lias postponed the date of the picnic, as it
clashed with the Oroua Downs sports, and the picnic will now be held on Friday, March 4.
