Mann Fails to Last Three Rounds "PITIFULLY LACKED POWER" United Frees Association—By Klee trie Tsleermph.—Copyright Received Thursday, 8.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 23. Joe Louis (14st. 41b.) knocked out Nathan Mann (13.11$) in the third round of a 15-round title bout at Madison Square Garden. Louis was cautious in the first round, but in the second opened up and swarmed all over Mann, a right to the head flooring Mann for the count of nine. Louis was beating Mann unmercifully at the bell. Mann suffered terrific punishment in the third, being down for the count of three. Louis continued the savage attack on his helpless opponent, finally flooring him with a right to the jaw. The attendance was approximately 20,000, most of whom cheered Mann. Boxing critics termed the contest the most savage two-fisted onslaught in history. Mann tried desperately to make a good fight, but pitifully lacked the power to halt the champion’s smashing attack.
