Head-on Collision

MOTO&-GYOLB AND OAR Hid viiinity of the Pahiatua rancours* vu the scene of a head-on collision between a motor-car and a motorcycle on Wednesday evening. The rider of the motor-cycle was Ron Carney, employed by Mr. W. Morris, of Konini, and he had a pillion rider named Earle Brown, also of Konini. The two injured men were conveyed to Dr, Watson’s surgery by a passing motorist, where Carney’s injuries were found to be facial cuts and severe bruising of the thigh muscles. He was later admitted to the public hospital. Brown’s injuries were confined to euts about his face, necessitating stiches being used, and he was afterwards able to proceed to his home. The car was driven by Harry Ashworth, of Hamua, and with him as passengers were Jerry Mitchell and Ron Madsen. Nobody was hurt in the car, but as a Tesult of the impact the whole of the windscreen was shattered and thrown inside the car. The motorstruck the car in the centre of the radiator, which was pushed hard against the engine. The cycle suffered severe damage, its front wheel being crushed and twisted about the forks. The seat was also torn off and the tank punctured.
