From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis Dance. The local Tennis Club held a dance on Friday evening for the purpose of raising funds for repairs and improvements to the Kimbolton Domain. A pleasant evening was spent, popular music being supplied by Messrs W. J. Hansen and R. Prince, of Apiti. Several novelty dances •added to the enjoyment of the evening, the Monte Carlo being won by Miss V. Drewitt and Mr B. Waugh, and the spot valeta by Miss B. Lawson and Mr W. Bartlett. Supper was served by the ladies of the Tennis Club. Mr W. J. Hansen, on behalf of the Tennis Club, presented Mr Reese Davies, who is shortly leaving the district to take up a position in Palmerston North, with a leather wallet in appreciation of his services to t'he club. Mr N. Thevenard then called upon Br Davies to accept a cigarette case from the Football Club, and wished him every success in the future. Mr Davies briefly replied. Kitchen i ea. Many friends of Miss Pearl Newman, whose marriage to Mr R. Knox is shortly to take place, gathered on Monday last and spent a delightful evening in dancing to music supplied by Messrs W. J. Hansen and R. Prince, of Apiti. The guest of the evening was presented with a posy, in tones to match her frock. Mr R. Schmidt, on behalf of those present, asked Miss Newman to accept an array of kitchen utensils, as tangible tokens of the high esteem in which she is held in the district. He then wished Miss Newman and Mr Knox every success and happiness in their married life. Musical honours were accorded the guests of honour. Mr Knox, in replying on behalf of his fiancee and himself, thanked all for their kindness and for the many parcels. Mr Newman also expressed his deep appreciation of the way in which his daughter had been treated. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr R. Schmidt, ando Mrs A. Simpson supplied music for an extra dance. Miss Newman was becomingly attired in a frock of salmon pink, trimmed with silver sequins. Flower and Produce Show. The tenth annual show and sale of work run by the Presbyterian Church will be held in the town hall on Saturday. It is expected there will be a large number of entries in all classes. There will be various stalls and competitions of interest to all, and in the evening entertainment will be given by several artists. This year’s show should prove to be one of the best yet. held.
