Masterton Ram Fair
OVER-SUPPLY AND INFERIOR QUALITY P*r Press Association. MASTERTON, Last Night. An excessive over-supply of rams, many of inferior quality, made the Masterton A. and P- association’s annual ram fair one of the dullest in recent years. There was a large and representative bench of buyers, who were prepared to pay reasonably good money for high-quality animals, but they purchased with keen discrimination. Tho entries this year are about 700 up on last year. The top price for flock Lincolns was 7Jgns. The prices for a big offering of flock Romneys ranged from 2gus. to 52gns., the latter being an exceptional price for flocks, and was paid by Messrs. Scott Brot*. (Masterton) for a splendid animal offered on account of Mr. T. Wyeth, junr. Buyers were rather apathetic towards the offering of stud Romneys. The top price was 65gns., paid by Mr. A. Bell, of Blenheim, for a ram offered ou account of Sir William Perry. Mr. A. L. Wheeler also scoured 65gns. for a rain purchased by Mr. Murdoch McLeod (Martinborough).
