On Trentham Tracks

WOODVILLE TRIALS CUDDLE FOR WANGANUI The final galloping of Trentham’s Woodville horses, over a dozen of whom are due to make the trip, was done under wet conditions yesterday morning (writes "Rangatira," of the Evening Post). The rain was only light while the work was in progress, but just previously it had been coming down in torrents, and tho trial grass track was very greasy on top. As far as could be ascertained all the centre's acceptors are likely to make the trip, whatever the weather during the next 24 hours. Arctic King (S. Wilson) and Rockingham (P. Burgess) were associated over six furlongs, Arctic King leading slightly throughout and finishing a neck in front in 1.20 3-5, the last halfmile in 54 l-ssec. Arctic King enjoyed the going, but Rockingham appeared to strike a bad patch on the turn, though he was making up ground at the close. Trebor (S. R. Farland) was always going better than Twilight Song (R. i Hawes) over five furlongs, and he was not doing his best to finish a neck in front in 1.8 2-5, the last half-mile in 55scc.

Protectress (Farland) left Quexona (A. E. Bennefc) over the closing stage of half a mile in 53sec. Camilla Horn (F. Power) did a working gallop over a mile in 1.54, taking a minute for the last half-mile. Alloa (M. Reardon) was not extended over seven furlongs in 1.41, Southern Blood (P. Burgess), who was also out to do strong pacing only over six furlongs, being picked up at the half-mile and following Alloa the rest of the way. Roaming, Sunbeam, Twenty Grand and Drachma were let off with light tasks. Siegmund and Impersonator were not on the tracks before the breakfast interval, but they were to have come over later.

Decision about what race Siegmund will start in on Saturday, or whether he will run at all if the going is bad, has not yet been made. Working early, Accomplice (Wilson) and Debham (R. A. Dodson) moved smartly over six furlongs in 3.18 2-5, the last half-mile in 53 3-ssec., Accomplice particularly handling the going well. Cricket (G. Flood) had something in hand in beating Sigurd (C. Burgess) over the same distance in 1.22 2-5, the last half-mile in 57sec.

Liane (Burgess) was held back to Girl Pat (Wilson) over half a milo in 52sec. Yours Truly (L. T. Nesbitt) ran three furlongs in 39sec., and Settlement (R. Sargent) took 42sec. Cuddle (A. W. Siin) did her usual round, taking 1.47 4-ssec. for tho last mile. She went up the back in 52 3-5 sec., but required 55 l-ssec. to* come home. She is to run in next week’s Wanganui Clip in which L. J. Ellis will be her rider, and then she will probably go to Napier Park for the Napier Cup, which has again been made an open event. Red Sun was asked to do his first school since the spring, and, with A. Sagar in the saddle, he went over the five inside hurdles. He gave his usual sound display till the last fence, which I he hit as the result of going a bit too slow, but he made a sure recovery. Though not in the published accept-

hnces, Terry, 7.0. has been paid up for the Woodville Handicap on Saturday and A. E. Bennet has been engaged to ride her. Another Woodville omission was Huntino in tho Maiden Plate. The order of the last two races has been changed, the four-horse Kumeroa Handicap no being seventh event and the County Handicap the last event. Roaming will be ridden in the Woodville Handicap by the stable apprentice R. A. Hawkings. B. H. Morris will be on Master Cyklon and P. Atkins on Hunting Cat. A. Jenkins is to ride Camilla Horn in the Oringi Highweight. RACING FIXTURES. February 18, 19.—Winton J.C. February 19.—Tolaga Bay J.C, February 19, 21.—Woodville D.J.C. February 24, 26.—Wanganui J.C.
