The weather was fine and calm for yesterday's track work at Awapuni and the going on the course proper was about as good as it could be. The flags were Well out and the horses were required to covor a good deal of extra ground. The plough also was in good order. Chief interest was centred in the gallops of the horses engaged at Woodville and the trials were satisfactory. L. G. Morris was the first trainer on the job but nsne of his horses were asked to break the watch. The Buzzer was worked over a mile and a-quarter but there was no pace on except for tho last two furlongs over which he hit out very boldly. Laughing Lass (I. Howe) was next and she was s printed six furlongs. She started smartly and she cut the first three out in 38. Half a mile to-ok her 51 3-5 and, never oil the bit, she finished smoothly in 1.17 4-5. She was not required to do her best but she worked very pleasingly. Clarion Call was out for his weightreducing constitutional. He should be in good nick for early winter engagements. The Bigot, who will be ridden by G. R. Tattersall in the Wanganui Cup, was given similar work to The Buzzer and he was timed to run the last three in 42. He looks a picture of health. Johnstone) was worked on the plough and she scampered over five furlongs in 1.7 2-5 without being under pressure. She is engaged at Woodville but no rider has been engaged as yet. The Crooner (W. Little) was given pace work on the plough. He looks as well as ever ho did. The Siegfried—Polly Peachum year-old, Segra, (W. J. Broughton) had Selkirk as a companion over half a mile. The full distance took them 53 but in cutting the last three out in 38 it was a very satisfaetdry gallop. Old Surrey (Little) who is on the 7.4 mark for the Woodville Handicap, sprinted six furlongs on the plough in 1."7 3-5 and ho went well throughout. Quadroon (Broughton) who is an acceptor for the Kumeroa Handicap, the four-horse race, was galloped seven furlongs and i e took 1.35 for the full distance witho it being asked to do his best. With Broughton sitting quietly on him over the last bit, he ran to.e last six in 1.20 2-5-Jubilee Song looks well and he was given a round of strong pace work. Taillight (B. Brown) sprinted five furlongs with Rolling Home (C. Thomson) and although Taillight was in front at the finish, Rolling Home was galloping very strongly. The time was 1.6 1-5. Dunmanway (Broughton), who is a very lazy worker when on his own, was timed to run half a mile in 56. He is in good nick for Saturday. Brazil (Johnstone) and La Premiere (Little) cut five furlongs out in the smart time of 1.5 J. La Premitre was in front 50 yai ds from the post but Brazil was given a kick and he had his head in front i\t the finish. Cletrac (C. Thomson) was given a pipe-opener over five and he cut it out in 1.6 3-5.
