From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis. Levin tennis players played a match against Bulls for the Linklater Cup and were easily victorious,. the scores being Levin 20, Bulls 4. Walker lost to Miss M. Blenkhorn, Miss Z. Ralfe lost to Miss L. Karau.ti, Miss E. Fitches lost to Miss G. On Thursday evening- a jolly party assembled to honour Miss Nellie Hinkley, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Hinkley, of Johnston street, Bulls, a popular young lady who is to be married shortly to Mr Charles Haycock, a well known young businessman of Bulls. The hostesses were Mesdames Robt. Hill, H. Meads and S. Sanson. Dancing filled In the major portion of the evening to music supplied by Mrs N. Buller, of Sanson. Miss M. Kearney played extras, Mr C. E. Bailey contributed a song, and Miss Dorothy Sutherland a fancy dance. Miss Hinkley and her future husband were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents. Mr Haycock returned thanks for the good wishes and the gifts. Supper was provided by the hostesses. Bowling. On the local greens the holders of the Pauli Feathers were called on to defend their title, which they were able to do by winning I—B. The teams were: Holders, H. Burt and H. Stevens (s); challengers, L. F. Homes and F. Stevens (s). On Monday a successful shop day was held on behalf of the Bulls Bowling Club. Good business was done by those in charge (Mesdames S. W. Ingram and H. Stevens), and a considerable sum was raised by their efforts. The special prizes were won by Messrs F. F. Ralfe. S. W. Ingram and Oledhill. Magistrate's Court. Mr R. M. Watson. S.M., presided at the sitting of the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. For driving a motor vehicle in Bridge street, Bulls, Grace Evelyn Poppe was fined £3, plus 30s costs; Audrey Phyllis Donehy, for driving a motor car at a speed which might be dangerous to the public, was fined £2, with 10s costs. John Alexander Hart, of Bulls, for failing to carry a warrant of fitness while riding a motor-cycle at Bulls, was fined £l, with 10s costs. Leslie Ezra Alve. for riding a motor-cycle not equipped with a headlamp as required by traffic regulations, was fined £1 10s and 10s costs. Arthur Mitchell Smart, on a charge of driving a motor car at a speed which might be dangerous to the public, was fined £2, and costs 10s; a similar fine lor a similar offence was imposed on Duncan Fraser. John .Johnston, who failed to signal as he was turning to the right, was fined £1 10s and costs 10s. Percy Patrick Davis, fo? driving a motor-car in a manner which was dangerous to the public, was fined £1 10s and 10s costs. Driving a car in a negligent manner cost John Philpot O'Gallaghan, of Mangaweka, a 30/- line, plus 18s costs. Daniel Thos. Ell wood (Foxton) was mulcted in the sum of 30s, with 10s costs for driving a truck at a speed dangerous to the public.
