Hard Labour Imposed

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE WELLINGTON, Feb. 15. Three years’ hard labour was imposed by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) in the Supreme Court to-day on James Patrick Shiv nan, who was found guilty yesterday of robbing William Plymouth Brown, aged 71, retired, of £l9O with violence in a bach in Waterloo Quay on December 19. The Judge took into account that the violence had not been serious, but said that he had not the least doubt it would have been greater if necessary and Shivnan would not have hesitated to use it. He had marked down his man as a victim when he had first met him, and was determined to get his money.
