Indifferent Suitor Was Prince Albert
“I prefer to read” was Prince Albert’s unsatisfactory reply, when young Queen Victoria asked him if he liked to dance. It furthermore tran- [ spires that, where the Queen fancies the Strauss waltz music, Albert has a strong preference for Beethoven. This is iu the beginning of the romance between Victoria and the Prince, when the latter seems a rather unwilling suitar, and the courtship has mainly to be conducted by the Royal lady as shown in the early stages of RKG Radio’s super-feature, “Victoria The Great,” dealing with the famous Queen’s reign and her love affair with Albert, which developed into a happy marriage, even though the Queen had to do the proposing herself. It is such human touches as the foregoing, showing that the royal couple’s idyl was [ much on the level of any everyday love j story, which accounts for the up-to-date appeal of the film.
