Stirring Tale of White Man’s Treachery
“DESERT GOLD” DRAMA OF THE OLD WEST
(Kosy: Now showing.) A drama tingling with excitement and suspense, Paramount’s “Desert Gold.” The stirring tale of a white man’s treachery in his efforts to obtain the last of an Indian tribe’s wealth, is the basis | for one of the most moving tales of the Old West. It is a story that only a master craftsman like Zane Grey could write. “Desert Gold” deals with a young Indian chieftain, abducted and horribly tortured by a villainous mine promoter and saved from death by a young mining engineer. This rescue results iu % lasting friendship between the young men which proves of great value later when the engineer and his sweetheart are in danger. Attacked by desert badmen, a terrific battle ensues between them with the Indians riding to the rescue. The young couple are themselves saved from death. The climax of the story makes a thrilling, fiery, romance.
Tom Keene is excellent as the young engineer who falls in love with Marsha Hunt, a charming and capable actress. Monte Blue convincingly plays the mine promoter who kidnaps the Indian, portrayed by Larry “Buster” Crabbe, while the comedy moments in the picture are well carried by Raymond Hatton and Robert Cummings. “Desert Gold,” with its intrigue, its romance, its bitter fighting, is an actionful and colourful romance.
