Air Force Candidates
42 IN HASTINGS AND NAPIER Ffrom Our Own Correspondent. NAPIER, Feb. 15. Forty-two candidates for admission to the Royal New Zealand Air Force were interviewed yesterday in Napier and Hastings by the selection committee, which consists of Wing-Com-mander L. M. Isitt, Squadron-Leader E. M. F. Grundy, and Major C. W. Free, M.C. Examinations of candidates were conducted to-day at Waipukurau and Dannevirke, where the number to be examined is about 18. Candidates are offering for either short-service commissions, or for enlist* nent for training as “other ranks,’ oich as mechanics, aircraftsmen. The standards set in the examination if candidates and applicants alike are ligh, but the experience of the examinng board on this tour is understood to lave furnished most satisfactory evilence of the keenness of young New Sealanders to enter the field of military •viation, while a large proportion of the andidates have met the exacting tandards adopted by the board.
