Rangitikei-Cheltenham Association’s Meeting

The Rangitikei - Cheltenham Rifle Association, held their annual meeting at Bulls on Saturday in ideal weather, but a slight though tricky wind bothered marksmen, some experienced shots on the Bulls range getting into trouble at times, showing that shooting conditions were not easy. Riflemen from Waipukurau, Wanganui, Rangiwahia, Kimbolton, Levin, Hautere, Turakina, Ashhurst, Cheltenham, Featherston, Greytown, Tararua, Opaki, Marton,

Kaiparoro, Mangaweka, Patea, Okawa and Rangitikei Riflo Clubs were present. Seven teams competed in the four-asido teams match and five entered in the eight-men match. Altogether 98 riflemen attended the meeting, which

was a- record. Tho day’s programme was well conducted by the different officials of the association, who had a big task to get through. Riflemen had a very enjoyable day ’s shooting. The championship belt shoot resulted in a tie and N. Amon and I. Ford, with 144 each, had to shoot off, five shots each at 600 yards. The result was in doubt until the fifth shot, when Amon registered a four while Ford found the bull (5), thus winning the 1938 championship. Tho Rangitikei Club won both teams matches. Tho results were as follows: —
