Grading Changes in Hastings

VARIOUS OFFICES RAISED From Our Own f'orresnondentl | • HASTINGS, Jan. 11. The re-grading of staffs of the various Government departments which came into force prior to the Christmas holiday period was applicable to most of the offices in Hastings, and mapy officers received increments. Those affected by the re-grading also received a welcome “Christmas Box” in the form of back-pay of the increments as from April 1, when the re-grading was deemed to' have- come into operation. The Hastings office of the Department of Agriculture was raised one grade, and is now a grade 5 office. The majority of the officers all received increments and it is possible that a number of changes in the personnel of the stafl may result.

The Hastings Courthouse also went up one, being now graded in class 3. In this instance, however, the offices of the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and that of the Registrar o 1 Electors, have been officially combined with that of the office. It appears that almost all the offices in the Justice Department has been raised a grade and in consequence, there will not be many changes in the staff made necessary. The re-grading is not expected to affect the Hastings office in its personnel.

All members of the Public Trust Office staff benefited under the general re-grading and here again it is not anticipated that any changes will result. Only about twelve members of th* Post and Telegraph staff at Hastings benefited from the revision of the grading in their department, the majority being of the rank and file. There is a possibility that in this department there may be a number of transfer involved, but they will not affect the Postmaster, Mr. C. Clark.
