MR. GORDON REDWARD From Our Own CorrespondentHASTINGS, Jan. 11. Before his departure yesterday for Wellington, where he will be engaged on work connected with the forthcoming New Zealand centennial celebrations, a round of farewells fell to the lot of Mr. Gordon Redward, of Hastings. He will be greatly missed throughout this district for his musical entertainments. The staff of the Lands and Survey Department, Napier, through Mr. F. R. Burnley. Commissioner, congratulated Mr. Redward on his good work in that office, and on his promotion, where he hoped success would follow. He presented him with a case of pipes. Mr. Barlow, chief surveyor, also spoke and endorsed Mr. Burnley’s remarks. The Hawke’s Bav Regimental Club congratulated Mr. Redward and pre • sented him with a beautifully engraved cigarette case, and wished him success in his new sphere. The members of Mr. Redward’s orchestra, of which he was leader, met and handed him a very handsome engraved clock. A good muster of the members of the Hastings High School Old Boys* Football Club met recently, and to show how greatly they appreciated his many services to that club, honoured the occasion by presenting Mr. Redward with a gold mounted and inscribed fountain peri. The gift was made by Mr. Lockhead who spoke regretting the loss to the club and congratulated Mr. Redward on his promotion. Later In the evening the club members and members of the orchestra met at Mr. Redward’s home.
