Fair to Fine Generally Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The situation is dominated by an intense anti-cyclone, the centre of which still lies to the west of the Dominion. Winds: Light to moderate and variable for the most part, but southerlies prevailing at first in northern and eastern areas of the North Island and westerlies freshening at times in the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters); Rather rough to rough in the Foveaux Strait area, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate easterly winds in the northern portion, with slight to moderate seas; moderate but freshening northerly to north-westerly winds in the southern portion, with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather: Fair to fine generally, but occasional passing showers are probable in the far south. Cold night but mild day temperatures. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER The Dominion was favoured with an other fine day yesterday with only the slightest of winds where calm did not prevail. There was bright sunshine in the north and south, clouds becoming more prevalent in the Cook Strait area.
