The building permits issued by the Palmerston North City Council for the month of October show a total estimated value of £10,839 as against £24,086 in October, 1936. The figures for the State houses have not yet come to hand and are to be included in the next month’s returns. Permits this month were issued for the erection of seven dwellings at a total estimated cost of £5830. Alterations and additions to dwellings were estimated to cost £2320 and seven other buildings were shown as costing £442. A permit was issued for the erection of business premises costing £I6OO and for alterations and additions amounting to £647.
