Piano-Accordeon Band

FIRST ANNUAL MEETING HELD The first general meeting of the newly formed Manawatu amateur pianoaccordeon band was held in Cole'a building on Thursday night. There was an attendance of 14 players and several interested visitors. The following officers were elected:—Conductor, Mr. H. Cater; deputy conductor, Mr. Luxford; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Harris; executive committee, Messrs Ward, junr., E. Allan and R. Hill. Mr. Luxford and Mr. Hill, senr., were thanked for donations to the funds. The offer of the free use of a practice room by Coles Music store was gratefully accepted. The band has started with an active membership of 14 players and will hold practises on alternative Mondays from November 8 The players are very enthusiastic and look forward to a very interesting and enjoyable season under the baton of Mr, Cater. A short practice was held before the meeting closed.
