Thw JohnsonvUle State School will celebrate its seventieth birthday during the week between November 4th and 13th. It is probably one of the oldest suburban schools in Wellington, having been started when the place was a mere hamlet in the hills, without any connection with the city save the buggy, the cart, the coach, and “Shanks’ pony.” Information about the early days of this school is being collected by Mr. J. R. Richardson, Johnsonville. Official returns indicate that unemployment in Germany dropped by 86,000 in July to 563,000. Balsa wood, used for making lightweight articles, is actually lighter than cork. It comes from South America.
