Improving and Cold Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The pressure is still low east of the. North Island and an area of low pressure also extends over the Cook Strait area. An intense anti-cyclone ering eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea is, however, approaching the Dominion and a more settled typo of weather should therefore shortly set in. Winds: South-westerly to southerly prevailing, strong at first on parts of the east coast and in the North Island but later decreasing and otherwise moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and between Kaikoura and East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong but decreasing southerly wind-; seas rough but gradually moderating. Weather: Mainly fair in tho western districts of the South Island; otherwise changeable with passing showers but an improvement commencing to-morrow in most parts. Temperatures: Cold with some sharp frosts in the South Island.
