Rain which fell contin- | uously during the morning made . the I grounds very heavy, Tutaenui defeated I United G —3 and Kia Ora won from HalI room be 4—o. I The match at Marton between Tutaenui i } and United was of an even nature. Tu- i taenui had the better of the first half, j the score being 4—l. In the second spel: I United played much be tter hockey and added two more points to their score. In the latter stages of the game Tutaenui got on top and easily piloted two more goals, making the final score Tutaenui 6. • United 3. M. Warren scored four goals A and J. Whale and Irish Cole ono each I for the winning team, while I. Mclndoe I shot all the goals for United. The umpires I were Rev. W. B. Cuming and Mr A. f Grade. | Halcomb* went under on their own ground to Kia Ora by 4 goals to nil. The j match was Kia Ora’s from the start but ’ was interesting throughout. The ground was very heavy but some good hockey i was played, especially by the winning i team, who kept their positions better i than Halcombe did. At half time the score -was Kia Ora 2, Halcombe nil. Kia , Ora in the second half notched another two goals, making the score 4—nil. M 1 Iwlkau got two goals and M. Bush and t J. Baines one each for Kia Ora. The , umpires were Messrs M. Blair and R. Searancke. The weather was Ideal for the Rangitikei Hunt at Messrs Whittington Bros, homestead, “Wellbury.” The country was in fine order for hunting, which was over gorso fences, wire and spars. No run was had at tho homestead paddocks, I but going over to Messrs Schultze Bros, property, the hounds were soon In full flight, but puss beat them into cover. Another hare gave the hounds and huntsmen a good run, but again puss got the better of things by getting Into prohibitI ed country. Starting up another hare the 1 hounds got well away into wire-fence , country, where some good jumping was Jhad. Several huntsmen left empty saddles, but nobody was hurt. Puss once more h*at the pack and after a first-class

run it was called a day. After the hunt all -were, entertained by Air and Airs W. Whittington at afternoon tea. The master (Mr J. Brice) xvho is still unable to ride to hounds, but wa-s a. spectator, thanked Mr and Airs Whittington for the privileges accorded them. Amongst those following were tho president. Air E. T. Alarshall on “Hymgreat,” H. Alarshall on “Quickstep,” Frank Brice Jnr. on “Nurmi,” W. Whittington on “Evermire.” W. Mcßean on “Bactose,” J. Jarvis on “Genna,” J. Bumsden on a chestnut; Alisses Noel Cameron on “Rangi,” AI. Alarshall on “Body Blake,” Airs R. Simpson on “Taffy.” A large crowd also followed on foot.
