DISCOVERY BEFORE JUMP FROM PLANE Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 25. ‘"1 her© was no question ot any possibility ol latal results to my jump,” declared the young New Zealand parachutist, G. W. Sellars, when referring to a Press Association report from Christchurch stating that as he was about to jump lrom an aeroplane at the W lgram aerodrome field day he found that part of tho parachute was already streaming out behind him. Mr Sellars said to-day that, although he had found that portion of the parachute had apparently been tampered with, it was not enough to cause great danger. “Actually the parachute protectioi flap had been opened by somebody I dou t know who—while I was on the ground,” said Mr Sellars. “This fastens over the ripcord to prevent tne cord from being pulled out aoc.i. tally. We had checked over the parachute watched by two policemen, and I left for a few minutes to speak to the secretary, Mr Oimie. The flap must have been opened while 1 was away. It was really a trivial matter as far as any danger to me was concerned.”
