Te Kawau Basketball Team To Play at Pahiatua
The following teams will represent the Te Kawau Association at Pahiatua: A Team.—Misses G Parsons (capt.), R. Hill, E. Knox (forwards); J. Glasgow, M. Fraser, E. Hill (centres); J. George, Af. Scott, D. Sargisson (defence). B Team.—Misses E. Boddy, E. Murphy, P. Gray (forwards); P. Tenz, P. Duffy, R. Simm (centres); J. Eades, A. Tennent, P. Carter (defence). Emergency for both teams, P. Gimblet. The following is the Cheltenham basketball team to play Feilding Agricultural High School Kias, at Cheltenham, at 2.30 p.m. to-day:—Forwards, B. Brock, J, Corte, T. Corkill; centres, D. McFarlane, F. Rush, P. Viles; backs, P. and A. Shannon, J. Wither. Anyone unable to play, please ring 596 W.
Twelve children were killed by a pack of wolves scouring the countryside near the village of Rahimabad in the Lucknow district, United Provinces. After an exciting chase organised by a landlord with the help of armed constables the leader of the pack was shot dead. A recent hailstorm lured the pack out of the woods. Meeting with hardly any resistance, it became daring, and carried away children from the fields in the presence of their parents.
