From Our Own Correspondent. Kitchen Tea. On Thursday evening a bride-elect, Miss Christine Christiansen, was tendered a kitchen tea. A happy evening passed merrily with games and dancing, Mr H. Wood being in charge. The guest of honour was frocked in blue floral georgette. Tho lucky spot waltz was won by Mr and Mrs James, and the musical arms game by Mrs M. Johanson and Miss E. Christiansen. The Monte Carlo prize went to Miss M Speedy and Mr K. Knudsen. At a suitable juncture Mr E. Knudsen called on Miss Christiansen to accept the many useful and interesting parcels. The speaker stated how she would be missed from the district, and hoped she would return at least for the jubilee celebrations. Mr S. Matthews replied on behalf of his fiancee. The couple were then accordea musical honours. Music for games and dancing was supplied by Miss J. Wood and Mr J. Romley. Hall Dance. There was a good attendance for the hail dance held last week. The Gay Gordons was won by Miss D. Jeffry and Mr T. Esplin, the Monte Carlo by Miss \V. Vautier and Mr B. McCool. and "most partners’’ by Miss McCormick and Mr T. Esplin. Basketball. The two teams played on Saturday, the A team winning against Y.W.C.A. B team by 12 goals to 11. The A team comprised: Misses J. Wood, M. Radomski, E. Woodd, C. Vautier, H. Harrowfieid, A. Olsen, W. Vautier, J. Smith and L. Speedy. The B team played on the home courts and were beaten by High School, 18—11. The local players were Misses M. Hodgson, P. Christiansen, T. Newcombe, E Vautier, L. Smith, G Jones, V. Puklowski, I. Johansen and H. Christiansen. Mrs Frith was umpire. The visiting players were entertained at afternoon tea. Saturday Night Dance. The school weekly uance was well attended The Monte Carlo was won by Mr J. Woodd and partner, and the lucky door ticket by Mr E. Newcombe. Pirsonal and General. Miss M. Vautier has returned from a i short stay in Marton. Her injured ankle l is now on the mend. Mr and Mrs A. Harrowfieid spent a few days in Wellington, where they saw their soil, Len, off on a trip to England. Preparations are being made for a Paddy’s market on the-26th. inst., and contributions will be gratefully received. Mrs A. Sly has had her sister from Taihape staying W'ith her.
