National Dairy Conference
NEXT YEAR AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Last Night. The National Dairy Federation Conference was continued to-day when the greater part of the day's business was
occupied with addresses by Dr. E. Marsdeu and Col. \V. 11. Cunningham. It was decided to hold next year’s conference at New Plymouth. Several speakers considered thal, as the annual conference was recognised as the parliament of the dairy industry, it should have a permanent venue. Mr. J. G. Brechin (Pahiatua) considered that Palmerston should bo a permanent venue for the conference and criticised the lack of accommodation in Hamilton. The view that all the milk supplied to factories should be paid for on its basic value for the purpose for which it was utilised, embodied in a remit submitted from the Kairanga Co-opera-tive Dairy Coy. did not receive the support of the conference. Speaking against the remit Mr. J. G. Brechin (Pahiatua) said that in his opinion the conference would be well advised to leave this question severely alone. If the remit was passed he believed that it would lead to the closing down of about five cheese factories in his district through loss of supplierf The remit, if passed, would also resut citato the old “battle of Creeds, and that controversy, in his opinion, kedl already caused sufficient trouble.
