PRICES AT FRANKTON HAMILTON, June 22. A medium yarding of fat sheep, com prising mostly good quality mutton, was penned at the Frankton saleyards today. Competition was keen throughout, and late firm rates were maintained. Light-weight cattle comprised the offering of beef. There was a brisk inquiry in this department, and a good sale resulted. Cow and heifer beef were in short supply, the entry including a fair proportion of well-finished Polled Angus cows and heifers. Competition was firm, and last week’s realisations were fully maintained. Voalers met with a ready sale, there being an improvement in tho prices. Boner cows were also in keen demand. Fat pigs received keen attention and late rates were quoted. Stores and weaners improved in values. JOHNSONVILLE SALE Messrs Wright, Stephen sou and Co., Ltd. and Abraham and Williams, Ltd. report on Johnsonvillo sale as follows: “Wo offered a large yarding of all classes of cattle and an average yarding of sheep. The bullocks comprised chiefly prime medium-weight cattle, with a few pens of extra heavy bullocks. All classes met with a ready sale with no alteration in prices. The yarding of cows and heifers was not up to the usual quality, tho penning comprising mostly second-grade cows with a large number of cows'ex dairy, but only prime quality cows were sought after. These sold at late quotations, while plain and unfinished sorts were 5s per head easier. A good salo resulted for runners and vealers, with prices firm on last week. The wethers were of good quality with a few pens of extra heavy weight sheep, the balance of the yarding consisting of light to medium weights. Prices were firm to the extent of Is per head on last week for heavy wethers, while there was no alteration for medium weights. All classes of ewes met with keen competition and a total clearance was effected at prices Is per head up on last week’s rates. There was little inquiry for lambs and prices showed no alteration. Quotations: —Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l3 to £l4 12s 6d; prime heavy bullocks, £l2 8s to £.12 18s; heavy bullocks, £ll 12s 6d to £l2; light bullocks, £lO 5s to £l3; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 5s to £8 12s 6d; prime heavy cows and heifers, £7 12s 6d to £8; cows and heifers, £6 12s 6d to £7 ss; cows ex dairy, £4 18s to £6; runners, £4 5s to £5 2s 6d; vealers, £2 5s to £3 3 ss; prime extra heavy wethers, 32s lOd to 34s 3d; prime heavy wethers, 31s 6d, 325; medium wethers, 28s 9d, 30s; prime extra heavy ewes, 27s 6d to 28s 7d; prime heavy ewes, 26s fid to 275; medium ewes, 25s lOd to 265; heavy lambs, 25s 6d to 28s 6d.
