the Hukerenui Cemetery Trust Board, (proceeded against T. J. A. Hutchins on three counts involving 21 pigs, owned by defendant, which trespassed on thf Hukerenui Cemetery, j Mr R. K. Trimmer, for tho board, said defendant had been written to with a ' complaint that his pigs wero going into the cemetery. The board had since received information that the pigs wero continuously seen there. Letters of protest had been received by the board. I The Act provided for each animal tres* I passing in a burial ground a maximum 1 fine of £5 and a minimum fine of £l. I Mr D. L. ltoss, for defendant, said his client had not been dilatory. He had endeavoured to stop his pigs wandering into the cemetery. Immediately be was j warned by the trust board he sent the pigs away. He was considerably concerned about the whole matter. « The magistrate, Mr G. N. Morris, said he had no option but to fine defendant tho minimum amount, which would total £2l, with court costs.
