Palmerston North Hospital Women’s Auxiliary
MONTH’S WORK REVIEWED Mrs. M. Aitchison presided at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Women’s Auxiliary held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Also present were Mesdames W. H. Richardson, J. A. Nash, M. Ashworth, A. E. Alansford, A. M. Wilson, F. Bennett, J. Barsanti, F. G. Murphy, W. M. Huntington (actingsecretary), Misses Clark, and J. McGhie. Apologies were received from Mesdames S. J. Parkes, W. Mouldey, E. L. Christian, T. R. Moore and Miss M. McLagan. Feeling reference was made to the parsing of Mr. J. K. Hornblow and deep sympathy was expressed with Mrs Hornblow and family. Mrs. Aitchison paid tribute to the fine work done by Mr. Hornblow, commenting on the splendid part he had played in the promotion of the auxiliary and of the great interest he had taken in its activities. The postponement of the fair was again discussed and it was decided to fixe a tentative date in July for the function. A further three months’ leave of absence was granted Mrs. R. A. Bettis, Airs. Huntington consenting to carry on as acting-secretary during that period. Sympathy was expressed with Mrs. W. Mouldey, who is at present ill in hospital and with Airs. J. Stone, who has been indisposed. It was decided that the secretary should write to these two ladies conveying best wishes from the auxiliary. Alembers learnt that Mrs. Stono was doubly unfortunate iu. that Mr. J. Stone was also in hospital in Wellington. Airs. Mansford and Miss Clark reported on the work done by the sewing circle.
