PERSONALITIES
Mr. D. J. McGowan was last night re-elected chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board.
Cr D. Collis was re-elected chairman of the Kairanga County Council at the annual meeting of that body yesterday. Tribute was paid to the work that he •had done for the country and the way in which he had looked after the interests of the ratepayers. In returning thanks for his re-election, Cr Collis said a fine spirit had always prevailed on the council, and he was glad to have such a splendid lot of councillors to work with.
At the annual conference of the Dominion Association of Carbonated Water Bottlers held in Auckland the following officers were elected:—President, Mr. J. P. Lane (Dunedin); vicepresidents, Messrs. M. O'Connor (Levin), R. Hall (Greymouth), and D J. Malone (Stratford); executive com mittee, Messrs. H. J. Simmons (Wei lington), A. G. Menzics (Auckland), R S. Duncan (Nelson), A. Wilson (Tau niarunui), E. Wright (Christchurch), H Ilemsley (Dunedin), P. J. Sweetapple (Napier), and A. H. Finnie (Dunedin) secretary, Mr. L. Hayman (Wellington). —Press Assn.
