Site for New Hastings School

KARAMU ROAD AREA From Our Own Correspondent HASTINGS, May 25. As the result of the announcement of the grant from the Department of Education for the purchase of additional land for the erection of the proposed Intermediate School in Hastings, the Hawke’s Bay Education Board has secured an option over a small area of about 2j acres from the property of Mr S. J. Reid in. Karamu road. Some years ago a piece of land about five and a-half acres in extent was purchased from the late Mr Alfred Reid to provide a site for the Intermediate School, but for several reasons the erection of the building was delayed, though more than one Minister of Education approved the proposal. The latest area in view is a strip of land to the east of Mr S. Reid’s residence and will link up the High School with the area originally purchased for the new school.
