Among successful entrants at the Waikato Show recently was Mrs. M. K. Waldin, of Feilding, who secured three prizes in the knitting section.

Miss Maude Diamond, of Dannevirke, who has been staying with her aunt, Mrs. J. E. Barltrop, of Feilding, is now the guest of Mrs. C. Corke, of Kiwitea.

Mrs. T. Patchett, of Blenheim, who has been on a visit to her sister, Mrs. H. Hayden, Derby street, Feilding, returned home by Union Airways yesterday.

Miss J. Galvin, of Christchurch, took up her duties as drill and sports mistress at the Palmerston North Girls’ High School yesterday morning. Miss R. Benstead, who previously acted in that capacity, has taken up a position at the Christchurch Technical College.

Among visitors to Feilding for the Meldrum-Barltrop wedding on Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Barltrop, of Wellington, Miss Millicent Barltrop, also of Wellington, Mrs. K. McLean, Stratford, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Broad, of Masterton.

Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Oakley, of Rainforth street, Palmerston North, leave for Auckland to-morrow evening and sail by tho Wanganella on a visit to various parts of Australia. Mr. Oakley’s many friends will wish him a speedy return to health in the sunshine of Australia.

Tho death occurred at “Braemar,” Argyle avenue, last week, of Miss Jeannie Edgar, esteemed by many as a kind and sympathetic friend. Miss Edgar came to New Zoaland 30 years ago from Dumfries, Scotland, accompanied by a nephew, and resided for varying periods in Central Otago, Hastings, Masterton and for tho past eight years in Palmerston North.
