KIRILINKO v. FORSGREN. Matros Kiriiinko, a giant Russian army man from the Don Cossack regiment, and an equally big Canadian, Jack Forsgren, who was one time a Vancouver fireman, will open the professional wrestling season in Palmerston North on Thursday night at the Opera House. The Cossack is new to this country, but has an excellent record both in Europe and America, and on his performances was invited by the D.W.U. to make one of this year’s visiting team. He has a very fine physique and, coming from Europe and the eastern States of America, lie will show a different technique from the imported wrestlers we have seen here, nearly all of whom have 1 cen from tho western or middlewestern States. He has the reputation of being able to “mix it,” so with a wrestler of the Jack Forsgren type against him, it will be more than interesting. It will be very interesting if he commences the unorthodox, as the big Canadian was the recognised “rough house” artist of last year’s visitors, and can give a bit more than ho will have to take. The bout in Palmerstou will be tho Russian’s first appearauce in New Zealand, and he will want to make a good impression on the officials who imported him, several of whom have signified their intention of being present when the contest is fought. The stadium seats erected for big occasions on the stage at the Opera House are admitted by the Dominion wrestling authorities to be the best in New Zealand and have gone a long way to popularising this and other ring sports here. Reservations for the stage, dress circle and stalls may be made at Collinson and Cunninghame’s booking office.
