Pohangina Valley

From Our Own Correspondent. Ora wing its patronage from a very wide district, the modern grand dance of the Pohangina Dancing Club, which took place on Wednesday was indeed a successful and enjoyable function. Tho hall, which was tastefully decorated with streamers and Crinese lanterns, was just comfortably filled and, us Uie evening progressed the scene was on© of colour and gaiety. A carnival spirit was introduced when streamers and novelties were liberally dispensed. Tho event was the first ail-modern dance held by the club, and any doubts which might have been held as to its success were speedily dispelled as tho patrons were unanimous in their expressions of approval. Members of the club, headed by the secretary, Mr A. Wills, had left nothing undone in catering for their guests and tho success achieved was well deserved. Supper arrangements were in tho hands of a ladies’ committee. Spirited music was rendered by a professional orchestra, Mr W. liowcll carrying out tho duties of M. Pleasing features of the evening wero demonstrations of tho modern waltz, the quickstep and th© rumba, given by Miss Beth Parkes and partner. Two Monte Carlo dances were held, the first being won by Miss J. White and Air T. Weal leans and the second by Miss omitfi and Mr G. Hunt. Among the ladies present were:—Mrs G.
