Milson
From Our Own Correspondent. A most pleasant evening was spent in the Milson hall on Thursday, when the residents of Milson and district met to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs F, G. Murphy, who are leaving tho district. The evening’s entertainment consisted of old-time dancing, songs snd elocutionary items. An orchestra supplied the music for dancing-., .Mr Ron Trichard playing extras on tho accordeon. The Moxue Carlo waltz was won by Mrs Bryden and Mr G. Richmond, whilo Miss and Mr Gumming won the lucky spot Gay Gordons. Mr E. Bulmer and Mr T. Gumming acted as M.C’s. During the evening Mr S. M. Thompson
.‘ poke in glowing terms of tho good work done in Milson by Mr and Mrs Murphy, particularly for the Milson School, as Mr Murphy has been on tho school committee ever since the school was built. . Mrs Murphy had also been a splendid worker for the children. Mr G. Richmond, chairman of the Milson Progressive association, also spoke in praise of Mr Murphy and tiie services he had given in that institution. Mr Thompson then presented Mr and Mrs Murphy with a canteen of cutlery as a mark of appreciation. Mr McEwen, headmaster of the Milson School, said how sorry he and the staff were at losing the valuable services of Mr and Mrs Murphy. He also spoke of Mr Murphy’s connection with the dental clinic and the ever ready assistance of Mrs Murphy asfpianist at the school balls and in training the children for the dances. Mr Murphy thanked the residents for the evening and gift. He also thanked Mr W. G. Black, the chairman of the School Committees Association, and Colonel Whyte, Education Board member, for valuable assistance freely given by them. Mr Murphy also paid tribute to tho members of the Milson School Committee for co-operation given.
