Russell Street School

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the Rus sell Street School committee there were pres%nt Messrs J. A. Grant (chairman), F. W. Coombs, W. A. Boniface, G. W. Coppell, C. S. Trask, D. W. McDowell, M. N. Doig, R. P. W. Garner (secretary), F. C. Campbell (headmaster). Daily devotional exercises and Bible in schools: After a short discussion it was decided not to take any action in this matter. Milk in schools: In connection with the daily supply of milk to children, it was decided to purchase a suitable container for the storage of supplies of milk and empty bottles. Mr J. A. Grant was appointed to represent tho school on the milk in schools committee. The headmaster reported that 222 of tho pupils have expressed Uicir intention of accepting the milk ration. Headmaster’s report: Mr F. C. Campbell, headmasler, reported that the attendance of pupils was very good. Out of a total of 262 there were present that day 253, which represents 97 per cent, of the roll. To date 40 pupils have enrolled for attendance at tho dental clinic. Messrs W. A. Boniface and D. W. McDowell were appointed members ot the visiting committee for May. Mr T. Holdaway was appointed gardener in place of Mr W. V. Hasiam, who has resigned. In view of the fact that he will shortly be moving out of the school district, Mr Roy Garner tendered his resignation as secretary-treasurer of the committee. It was decided to place on record the appreciation of the committee, headmaster, and staff, for his valued services. Mr G. W. Coppell was appointed secretary-treasurer in his place. Fumigation of schools: Mr C. T. Trask drew attention to the fact that, as there did not appear to be any decrease in the number of infantile paralysis cases, the combined District School Committees* Association sbootd consider fumigating the schools tm-U week-end. This is a matter of extreme importance to the health of school children, and it was decided to get the co-operation of the Press in this matter.
