Cheltenham President Entertained at Wellington

Mrs M. Finlayson, of Almadale, Cheltenham, who is held in affectionate regard by many friends, was given a very bright and happy Scotch evening when spending a few days in Wellington prior to leaving on tho 7th for a long visit to her people in Scotland. Mrs M. Nicolson, of Brooklyn, who was hostess, welcomed the guests to her home, wearing a model gown of floral crepe de chene and Mrs Finlayson was attired in gold satin. The living-room had been cleared for dancing and beautifully decorated ■with stocks, asters and autumn-tinted foliage and, apart from dancing, there were merry games which greatly enhanced the fun of tho evening. A number of the guests contributed items that also gave additional pleasure. Mr McCullam 1 played the pipes for the Highland dancing and Mr and Mrs G. Gunn, violinists, played for novelty games. Two games were won by Miss Bennett and Mr McDiarmid respectively and a third very humorous one, .arranged by Mrs Forsyth, was won by Miss G. Mclnnis. Songs were contributed by Mrs Gunn and Mr McCullum, Gaelic songs by Mr Mclnnis, and recitations by Messrs Nicolson and McCullum.

A sumptuous supper was served and very much admired was the beautiful cake appropriately ornamented with nautical favours and presented to the guest of honour by Mr and Mrs McCullum. Various toasts were enthusiastically honoured and a delightful evening ended with ' the singing’ of ‘ ‘ Auld Lang Syne. ’ ’
