Mental Inmates Escape From Auckland Hospital
MAORI RETURNS TO HELP TWO OTHERS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Making his escape from Avondale --Mental Hospital at about midnight last night a Maori inmate who had been placed there after being charged with a serious offence in the {Supreme Court returned not long afterward and helped two other inmates, another Maori man and a white woman, to escape. They are all described as being dangerous and so far have not been arrested. They were not discovered to be missing untii the nurse on duty in their wing of the hospital was making her rounds some time afterward. No suspicious characters have yet been reported to the police, and it is thought possible they have left Auckland. The home of the Maori who escaped first is stated !o be in the Far North.
