Pahiatua Stock Sale

DISTRIBUTING COMPANY REPORT. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Company, Ltd., reports on their Pahiatua weekly stock sale as follows: Our entry comprised a yarding of 950 sheep and quite a fair entry of pigs offered to a good attendance of the public and we report practically a total clearance under tho hammer, quite a big portion of the offering comprising lambs, and while prices to us appeared to be on the wane, we were reassures by the fact that our realisations showed an improvement on recent sales of lambs in other centres. A few nice pens of ewes in their class were also yarded and the bidding appeared to be much more spirited than during the previous week’s sale, but naturally buyers are inclined to revert to the buying of ewes owing to their being more reasonable than in the past and earlier sales, and perhaps to-day they are neglecting lambs. We quote: On account R. A. Wilson, Makuri, six-year ewes 225; on account G. H. Bryant, Rakanui, mixed aged ewes 21s 3d, 2 and 4 tooth wethers 24s Id; on account E. Dodd, Pahiatua, live year ewes 19s 2d; on account Robert Yeoman, Makuri, ewo lambs 23s 6d, medium b.f. lambs 15s, small b.f. lambs 7s 3d; on account Gardner and Yeoman, Makuri, medium b.f. lambs 15s and 13s; on account A. W. Bisset, Pahiatua, white faced wether lambs 18s. Other sales made were; Aged ewes, 10s, 12s 6d to 13s 3d; cull lambs, 6s 9d, 7s 6d to Bs. Pigs: Slips, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; weaners, ss, 5s 6d to 6s.
