From Our Own Correspondent. In view of her approaching marriage, a gift evening was tendered Miss Doris Wilton in the hall last week. A happy time was spent in dancing, music for which was supplied by Mrs Atkinson. Miss Joy Patrick, Mr Patrick and Mr Griffith. Mr C. Osman called upon Miss Wilton to accept a handsome array of gifts, and on i behalf of those present wished her every happiness in the future. Mr Ken Osborne 1 responded on behalf of Miss Wilton. The ! young couple were then accorded musical | Honours. A happy evening was brought j to a close at midnight with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” i At the fortnightly meeting of the Lind Lodge of Druids, , Arch Druid Bro. H. Mason presided over a large attendance I of members. Visitors were welcomed from j Uroiut and Acorn Lodges (Palmerston j North), Shannon Lodge, Manawatu Lodge | (Foxton), and members of the Royal Arch j Chapter. A Mathe-Banks ritual contest I took place, Oroua, Acorn and Lind Lodges i competing. A good performance was put ! up by the three teams. Lind Lodge proved jto be the winners and are to be con- | gratulated on retaining the shield. The j Lind team consisted of the following I members: Arch Druid, Bro. H. Mason, i Vice Arch, Bro R. Mason. J.P.A. Bro. S. I Lloyd, secretary, Bro. M. Griffith, O.G. | Sister Griffith, LG. Sister G. Lloyd, I A.D.B’s. Sisters J. Williams and V. Voss; ■ V.A.B’s. Bros. A. Williams and C. Free, j M.C. Bro C. Osman, pianist. Sister E. Atkinson, coach, sister G. Osman. The ; judges for the contest were: elocutionary, j Bro. J. W. D. Davidson; floorwork, P.D.P. i Bro. Drake, correctness, Past Arch Bro. i i Buchanan and Past Arch Bro. Hanson. A i hearty vote of thanks was accorded the j judges. Lodge closed at a late hour, and ! supper was served by the Sisters. Personal and Generai. ! Mr R. W. Guy leaves this week to atI tend the Druids’ Grand Lodge conference, which is to be held at Wellington, j Owing to the adverse weather conditions the school picnic, which was to have I besn held last Saturday, has been post--1 poned until next Saturday, i k Bernard Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs ! N. Thompson, who was injured in a motor I accident, is progressing favourably. I Mrs A. Wilton is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. Her friends will be pleased to learn she is making a speedy I vecovery.
