GIRLS SIT DOWN IN FIVE AND TEN CENT STORES Received Sunday, 9.20 p.m. NEW YORK, March 14. Four five and ten. cent stores are experiencing a sit-down strike, the first in the city. Approximately 200 girls aro demanding a 20 dollars minimum weekly wage and a 40-hour week. 15,000 CHIMNEY SWEEPS STRIKE. BUT THEY DIDN’T “STAY-IN.” Received Sunday, 7.30 p.m. WARSAW, March 13. Fifteen thousand chimney sweeps struck as a protest against the municipalisation of their calling. They considerately organised a special sound to deal with dangerously foul flues.
