THIRTY SIT-DOWN HOLD-UPS IN DETROIT. Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. DETROIT, March 13. Governor Murphy has arrived and opened a series of conferences in an attempt to settle tho Chrysler and Hudson strikes. Tho sit-down strike epidemic is spreading here and a total of thirty such strikes is reported in factories and c-tores. General Motors have signed a final agreement with the union. Where the union won concessions regarding working conditions and seniority it lost minmura wages and the 30-hour weelc, recognised bargaining agents and mem bers of unions only.. GIRLS SIT DOWN IN FIVE AND TEN CENT STORES Received Sunday, 9.20 p.m. NEW YORK, March 14. Four five and ten. cent stores are experiencing a sit-down strike, the first in the city. Approximately 200 girls aro demanding a 20 dollars minimum weekly wage and a 40-hour week. 15,000 CHIMNEY SWEEPS STRIKE. BUT THEY DIDN’T “STAY-IN.” Received Sunday, 7.30 p.m. WARSAW, March 13. Fifteen thousand chimney sweeps struck as a protest against the municipalisation of their calling. They considerately organised a special sound to deal with dangerously foul flues.
