Whakarongo

From Our Own Correspondent. Jubilee Affairs.

During the week the school and tennis committees held a meeting to discuss holding a garden party in aid of the school queen funds. The date fixed was Saturday, April 3. It was decided to have tennis, with a small charge, clock golf, quoits, ladder croquet, stalls, a bran-tub, and many other diversions calculated to amuse the patrons. Afternoon tea will be available. Various folk were put in charge of the different stalls, etc., and they will find their own assistants. The school grounds are placed at the disposal of the committee. There will be a baby show. An iced cake and a sucking pig were donated. The two committees hope that this new venture for Whakarongo will meet with the success It merits.

Tennis. On Saturday the A team will be at home to a team from Takaro. Players required are Misses M. Vautier, E. Woodd, J. Wood, M. Sly; Messrs S. Oxenham, F. Eagle, W. Lacey and F. Greene.
