RECORD YEAR’S OPERATIONS The new business written by the Government Life Insurance Department for the year ended December 31, 193 G, totalled £2,863,186. This-figure establishes a new record for the department, and represents an increase of 42 per cent, over the previous record year, 1935, when £2,005,128 worth of new business was secured. The following figures for the last five years reflect the steady growth of the department’s new business:—l932, £1,104,644; 1933, £l,294,906; 1934, £1,661,740; 1935, £2,005,’128; 1936, £2,863,186.
