Englishmen in Country Game
FISHLOCK’S RETURN TO WICKETS. Received Friday, 11.5 p.m. BENALLA, March 5. The Englishmen began to-day a twoday match against a Victorian country side. There was a perfect wicket with beautiful ground surroundings. They batted freely, scoring 344 runs in 240 minutes, batting 12 men. A feature was a total of 104 in 15S minutes by Fishlock, in tho first innings, since the broke his hand at Adelaide before the fourth Test there. Hammond mude a most artistic 53 in 60 minutes. Voce and Allen made a last-wicket stand of 80 in 40 minutes. Voce’s 53 was unfinished in 50 minutes. Each scored a sixer and each was in good form. Fishlock's form indicated that it is likely ho would have been troublesome in the Tests if uninjured. The country team at stumps had lost two wickets for 29 runs.
