Mr 8. V. Rodney, who has always *ecw % great worker for the Pahiatua Racing Club has advised the secretary that old members of the club have, in addition to the tea service and stop watch for the Hamua Hack Handicap, donated a whip for the winning jockey of the same race. Harvest festival gatherings will be held in the Salvation Army Hall this week-end. Brigadier and Mrs Gray are coming from Wellington specially to conduct these meetings. The local representatives have been busy with the usual preparations, and the hall will be suitably arranged with flowers and fruits. The visiting officers will give addresses appropriate to the occasion and the singing will be in keeping with harvest thanksgiving. Immediately following the festival, Brigadier Gray and Major Armstrong will conduct a seven days’ revival campaign with meetings each night, concluding on Tuesday night, March 16th. One evening will be devoted to a talk by Major Armstrong on the early history and customs of the Maori people. The Major has first-hand knowledge of the subject as bo spent many years as a Salvation Army missionary of the Maoris. All aro invited to attend these special gatherings. At the Young Farmers* Field Day yesterday, Mr Mason, of Woodville, stated that complaints and diseases of a horse were much the same as a human being and should be treated the saute, only the dosage for medicine is about ; ten times as great with the horse
