Woman Found Killed

DISCOVERY BY HUSBAND SUVA, Feb. L A tragedy is reported from Labasa, in the islands of Vanua Levu, 150 miles from Suva. On the small island of Tivi, just off the Vanua Levu coast, Mr James Bre reton, aged 84 years, lived with his wife, a woman of Indian extraction and 48 years old. They lived there alone. On the morning of January 27 Mr Brereton missed his wife. After a search he found her body with an axe wound in the back of her head. He immediately proceeded to the mainland for assistance. On his return Mr Brereton found that his home had ben ransacked and a sum of money stolen. Mrs Brereton was a former resident of Levuka. No arrests have been made, but traces of trespassers have been found on the island,
